The Stress Tool What is it?

This is an audio-visual stress tool lasting about 25 minutes. It can either be watched online, downloaded or is available as a hard copy DVD.

Why should I use it when there is so much out there on Stress, Depression, Anxiety, coping etc,?  In his long career in supporting those with coping difficulties, Dr TSP has been struck and saddened by the lack of basic knowledge and understanding of how the human brain works when reacting to life stress events, and the thoughts and feelings associated with this. Often individuals really are frightened that they are losing control and hence  "what's happening to me?" is a very real worry in these circumstances.

Dr TSP has developed this basic programme over nearly 10 years, and became determined to produce this stress tool when he realised that despite many books and IT based programmes, there remains a huge need for an easily understood and concise audio-visual programme, to re-assure those affected that, in most circumstances, these feelings and thoughts are normal.

Some basic first aid measures are also discussed, which may be sufficient to allow you to get back into control.  It is important to understand though, that for some, more support and treatment may be required, and recommendations are made over possible pathways for this.

As you may know, those in this situation are desperate to understand what is happening to them, but have difficulty in concentrating, taking things in, and retaining the information. This stress tool meets this need by being:

  • Audio-visual – this combination maximises attention and information retention when compared with reading material
  • Short – information overload is avoided – compliance is therefore good, and difficulties of using longer length training tools are avoided.
  • Clear – and having a logical narrative using everyday words
  • Presented by an engaging and supportive narrator.
  • Able to be re-played with chapter layout as required. Its easy to return to it, to revisit and refresh!

The stress tool is also highly suitable as an education and training tool for Managers and Human Resources, to increase knowledge and understanding of why their staff may be under-performing and/or not coping in today's busy and demanding working environment.
